Privacy Policy
Last Updated: May 2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy outlines how the LearnHNS wallets (including our Chrome extension) handle your data. As a decentralized ecosystem tool, we prioritize your privacy and security above all else. We operate on a principle of minimal data collection and maximum user control.
2. Local Wallet Storage
All wallet data, including preferences, account names, and transaction history, is stored entirely locally on your device. We do not sync this data to any external servers or cloud services. If you uninstall the extension or clear your browser data, your local wallet storage will be permanently deleted.
3. Seed Phrase and Private Key Handling
Your Seed Phrase (recovery phrase) and Private Keys are generated locally on your device. They are encrypted using the password you set and are never transmitted to our servers or any third-party services. You are solely responsible for securely backing up your Seed Phrase.
4. Password Handling
The password you create to lock your wallet is only used locally to encrypt and decrypt your private keys. We do not store, transmit, or have access to your password. If you lose your password, we cannot recover it for you.
5. Node and Explorer Requests
To display balances and facilitate transactions, the wallet must communicate with the Handshake blockchain. This is done by querying public Handshake nodes and block explorers. These requests may expose your IP address to those public nodes, but they do not contain any personally identifiable information linking your identity to your wallet addresses.
6. Wallet Rescans and Address Lookup
LearnHNS Wallet is a self-custody browser extension. Seed phrases and private keys are stored locally in the user's browser extension storage and are not intentionally sent to LearnHNS servers.
However, wallet rescans may send derived receive and change addresses from the user's wallet to the configured Handshake RPC or indexer service. This is used to discover relevant transactions, balances, and Handshake name ownership. If the user uses the default hosted service, that service may see addresses associated with the wallet.
Users who prefer not to expose wallet addresses to the default hosted service should configure their own compatible Handshake RPC or indexer endpoint before importing or restoring a wallet.
7. Content Script and DApp Connection Behavior
When you use the LearnHNS wallet extension to connect to decentralized applications (DApps) or ShakeDex, the wallet injects a content script to facilitate communication. The wallet will explicitly prompt you for permission before connecting to any DApp or signing any transactions. We do not track which websites you visit or which DApps you interact with.
8. Analytics Status
Please note that the address lookup and rescan behavior described above is completely separate from analytics. LearnHNS Wallet currently has analytics disabled/no-op in the extension code. We do not use tools like Google Analytics, Mixpanel, or any other tracking software within the wallet application to monitor your behavior.
9. No Sale of User Data
Because we do not collect personal data, we have no data to sell. We will never sell, rent, or trade your information to advertisers, data brokers, or any other third parties.
